PNB Board of Directors Appoints New Member
Pike National Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Lamar Murrell to the PNB Board of Directors, effective as of the August 17, 2017 Board meeting. As a Director, Lamar will provide guidance and direction for the management of the bank’s business and affairs. The Board of Directors works in conjunction with bank management to ensure the overall growth and well-being of the bank is maintained.
“Lamar’s dedication and experience as a local business owner provides him valuable insight into the needs of our community, while his compassion for his neighbors is consistent with the values Pike National Bank strives to convey,” says Jennifer Wallace, President and fellow Director of Pike National Bank. “These attributes prove Lamar will be a tremendous asset to the Board as we move forward with the future of Pike National Bank and our community in mind.”
Lamar moved from Amite, Louisiana, thirty two years ago when he and his wife Betsy purchased Selman’s Jewelers-Gemologist, Inc., a company which began in 1945 with watchmaker Charles Selman. Lamar has continued Selman’s legacy with a continuously growing fine jewelry collection and onsite repair of jewelry, watches and more. He is a certified gemologist and appraiser with the American Gem Society, and former President of the Mississippi Jewelers Association. Lamar’s business fortitude is evident in his business’s standing as a fixture in McComb and the Southwest region of Mississippi.
In addition to owning a business together, Lamar and his wife Betsy have two children: Kristin Ratliff, who manages Selman’s with her parents, and Kyle Murrell of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Lamar is an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, formerly serving as Chairman for their Board of Trustees, and of the McComb Rotary Club, of which he formerly served as President.
Pike National Bank prides itself on being an integral part of this community, of servicing those around us in the best way possible. We are grateful to Lamar for his commitment to his community, and we are excited for the value he brings to our Board of Directors.
